La Lettre de la Photographie 8/11/2011 - Featured image in French photo blog, La Lettre de la Photographie
La Lettre de la Photographie—Life magazine winner for Best Photo Blog 2011—selected one of my summer vacation pics to be featured in their current project "Vacances !". I shot this last year on the beach in the Hamptons right before a tempest descended and scattered us all back to our respective time shares. Summer fun !

Accolades for Central Park Conservancy app 7/17/2011 - Accolades for Central Park Conservancy app
The Central Park app for iPhone and android was a hyphenate project (creative director-photographer) for my agency, mcgarrybowen. Since launch the app has caught the eye of Gizmodo, TechCrunch, Cult of Mac, appolicious, et al. It even spent time on the Apple App Store’s "What's Hot" and "Top 25" lists. Recently the app was covered in The New York Times and named one of the Top 9 must-have mobile downloads by the New York Post.

Robert DeNiro’s Greenwich Hotel 7/11/2011 - The Greenwich Hotel
Vanity Fair calls it a "TriBeCa triumph." The New York Times says "...downtown Manhattan has never felt so rich and inviting." And others from Elle Magazine to Condé Nast Traveller have praised Robert DeNiro's Greenwich Hotel. So, it was pretty fantastic to be invited to shoot a selection of rooms like the $5,500/night 2,500 sq ft duplex suite with 30ft atelier windows, fireplace, sauna, and steam room. Yep, pretty fantastic.

lucy david kent 5/24/2011 - Hi, lucy david !
I'm absolutely and terrifically beyond thrilled to announce the arrival of our daughter, miss lucy david kent. Although quite a surprise at three weeks early, she's nothing short of perfectly healthy and amazingly beautiful. If you can handle the cuteness and want to see more, you can click over to flickr. In the meantime, please excuse me while I take some time off :)

Macho Man Randy Savage 5/20/2011 - Macho Man Randy Savage Dies After Car Crash
It’s a sad day for me. Photographing the Macho Man was my first professional assignment. I spent a day with him in Cleveland, OH cruising around town in the most ghetto limo the city could offer. We were there to launch his new rap album and make some promotional appearanches for Slim Jim. We hit the local tv/radio scene and grinded out a track with the Euclid H.S. marching band—yeah, it was that good :) Believe it or not I shot everything with a Nikon 4500 and was more or less freaked out of my mind the entire time...in a good way, of course. That was kind of a long time ago now, but forever unforgettable.

Lori Funk in One Woman Standing Festival 5/1/2011 - One Woman Standing
I had the opportunity to shoot a selection of entries to the One Woman Standing festival presented by Emerging Artists Theatre’s New Work series. As one might reasonably expect this was a collection of solo shows. The one that stood out was "Two Truths and a Lie," written and performed by Lori Funk. I've worked with Lori before, but to watch her work is insane. Her skill at monologues, characters, and characters doing monologues (and songs!) is superhuman. The 3.9fps on my 5D markII could barely keep pace with the her facial gymnastics.

Oil Porn 4/7/2011 - Oil porn
Spent a week out west shooting a client's facilities as they pertain to oil refineries, processing plants, and solar fields. Can't disclose any of the details or generalities, but I can finally add "rattlesnake dodging" to the resumé.

Design Guru, Bob Richter 4/1/2011 - Promotional photo shoot for Design Guru, Bob Richter
Seems like Bob is a guy I can say, "I knew him when..." When we first met he was gaining extraordinary success in his interior design business. Cut to a year later and you can watch his hot web series; inquire about his new pilot; catch him with Martha Stewart; read about him in The New York Times; or eagerly anticipate his first book. We were able to steal some quality time away from his busy days and snag a plush penthouse in TriBeCa for the shoot...and still leave ample time for Bob to tweak the adornments.

Bowls of Art 3/26/2011 - Bowls of Art product photography
News flash: punch is making a big-time comeback, just in time to save you from the same-old-cocktail doldrums. Enter Bowls of Art: a coalition of dedicated punch aficionados offering "handmade, limited edition punch bowls created by innovative artisans with distinct styles." The bowls offered several photographic challenges based on their design, composition, and fragility. But I think the essence and individuality of each comes through successfully.

Simon the cat 1/21/2011 - Simon the cat
Simon was our second cat, a 9/11 rescue. He passed away the Friday after Thanksgiving and his absence leaves a kitty-sized hole in our home. In his memory we dedicated this portrait of Simon to the animal hospital at the ASPCA in hopes the kindness of his eyes and gentleness of his soul would offer some hope and comfort to its visitors, both furry and non.
