Every photographer knows the Robert Capa quote, "If you photographs aren't good enough, you're not close enough." But I never thought physical distance was the message.
"Getting close" is about earning trust, making a connection, and having the confidence and skill to capture a moment in an instant. It's about caring and understanding and recognizing that there is "interesting" in everyone. It's not about what's on the surface. It's the spirit inside, the elusive essence of someone captured that leaves the lasting impression.
